Generation Y in the Workplace

Standard

I truly believe that we expect something completely different from the workplace than the generations before us. I will find it out! Just maybe not tonight at 1am.

Today I learned from Steve Jobs:

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected,” said Jobs.

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it,” said Jobs.

If you’re not passionate about what you do, then innovation can’t occur.

Can and should

Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.

The end of the industrial era is opening countless doors. So many doors, in fact, that it’s easy to become paralyzed. Without a clear understanding of what you want, it’s harder than ever to get it.

Most of the time, we treat our careers like a buffet. “Show me what’s available and then I’ll decide…”

With the revolution going on all around us, there’s so much on the buffet you’re likely to just grab something convenient. Better, I think, to decide what matters first, and go do that.

Inspired

Sometimes, I just need to feel inspired.

Im leaning towards movies right now, btu as I look back through the last couple weeks music has really been it.

I am always torn between taking advantage of this amazing weather, and doing what I want. About 90% of the time, these two match up. I want to do something outside. Today, however, things are different. I want to watch a deep, inspiring movie. I want to start a project of watching all of Zoey Deshanel’s movies. I want to stay locked up in my apartment and not come out. Yet – i feel guilty about this since the weather is soo amazing outside. Its not going to be like this for much longer and I work during the week.

FYI _ bleh is worse than blah
